EMMY-winning actor Colman Domingo is no stranger to receiving critical and industry acclaim for his varied roles over the years, but – thanks to stellar performances in recently released films ‘The Color Purple‘ and ‘Rustin‘ – he’s seen buzz around his name reach its highest height yet.
For that reason and others Colman has been leading the pack of rumored potential replacements for Jonathan Majors as “Kang the Conqueror” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) after the latter star was fired for his legal woes.
Having already expressed interest in joining the MCU, Domingo is considered a shoo-in for the role in place of Majors – a growing hoopla the 54-year-old recently addressed.

One of many stars on hand at the 35th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala on Thursday night (January 4), resident ‘Entertainment Tonight’ anchor Denny Directo caught up with Colman to discuss the murmurs about him joining the MCU.
“I don’t know, I’m always looking at what I have to do right now… I know there’s talk and conversations around, and I don’t know how much is true,” he shared. “I don’t even get that from my team, I can’t tell if it’s true or not.”
Whether he gets the gig or not, Domingo says he’s flattered by the consideration.
“The fans are passionate,” he added. “Somehow my name is out there in the world [and] I like the idea of just having your name called and someone speaking lovingly and kindly about something is a beautiful thing.”
The report of Colman’s inclusion in the next ‘Avengers’ film began swirling when writer Daniel Richtman name-dropped the award-winning actor as one of Marvel Studios’ leading picks to step in as their new Kang the Conqueror.
Majors previously assumed the role in the MCU movie ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.’
